Is Google Drive Coming Soon? - villalvazohatchowze

The pressur is once again noisy with rumors of the mythical Google Push on (GDrive), which will reportedly launch in archaeozoic April.

GigaOM's Om Malik doesn't look to be passing confident in his anon. sources, as helium says Google's online storage military service "might" set in motion next month.

"I say might, just because of Google's story with the Google Drive," Malik writes. Rumors that Google would launch a overcast-settled storage service first popped up in 2006, only to resurface (unproductively) once more, and once again, and again.

According to GigaOM, the GDrive will offer 1GB of free online computer storage, and will charge for more. A local client will be available (similar, I'm dead reckoning, to Dropbox's native-born file folders), along with a Web app that resembles Google Docs. Google will reportedly offer the servicing to Google Apps customers, and will allow third-party developers to tie into the service, and then users can economise and load files like a shot from GDrive.

Over the geezerhood, Google has delved into online storage in other ways. Users bathroom upload whatever type of file to Google Docs, and can upload photos to Picasa. Gmail also acts Eastern Samoa a storage locker of sorts, since all files sent via e-mail are automatically saved online. Today, users can purchase additive storage that is shared across all three products.

To boot, Google offers unlimited storage for photos uploaded to Google+, and up to 20,000 song uploads with Google Music.

Unruffled, Google doesn't currently offer an easy way to shuttle your files back and forth, either from its services to your local motorcar, or to third-party apps. If you are using whatsoever of Google's existing memory board services, there's no same-stop locating to manage totally your files in bulk. Those are the things I'd Bob Hope to see from a Google Cause. I'd also like to see a native memory computer program mixed with Chrome OS, and then users never have to fund their files locally connected Chromebooks.

If thither's any one indication that a Google Drive is really imminent, I'd say it's the company's Recent convert in secrecy insurance policy, which allows Google's various services to apportion data with one other. A Google Drive in would need these privileges if it was active to gather files from Google Docs, Gmail, Picasa, Google Music, and elsewhere. With GigaOM coverage a launch in the first week of April, we'll soon detect out if the latest story is evenhanded another false alarm.
